Bedding & Pointing

Firstly, the ridge capping is held down and supported by a “BED” of (sand and cement-based) mortar. But unfortunately, the bedding will crack as it naturally shrinks and it does not bind the ridge capping very well.
This is where the pointing comes into play.

Selleys Point Works is a pointing compound for the adhesion of ridge caps to the hips and top ridges and also gables.
After the ridge tile has been cured into the bedding compound the pointing product is trowled along each edge of the ridge caps
This is to ensure that no cracks will appear.
